    Brewing process

    Rathaus beer

Lovingly brewed with Mount Pilatus spring water from the oldest network of wells in the city of Lucerne: cereal malt, hops and yeast - unfiltered and natural. Made with experience, patience and passion.

    The Rathaus Brauerei

Founded in 1998 by qualified brewing engineer Eckhard Schwöbel † 2021. A meeting place in the heart of Lucerne – to unwind and linger. Located directly on the banks of the River Reuss. Under the arcades of Lucerne Town Hall (built 1602 – 1606).

    The master brewer

Reinhard Knispel, man of the hour. Using select ingredients, he brews our beers in copper vats on-site in the Rathaus Brauerei restaurant. The precious wort flows through a 70-metre underground conduit through Lucerne’s Old Town – at the time a world first – into the fermentation and storage cellar in the Eisengasse, and then on for another 70 metres into the Stadtkeller.
